 About

The First Note

The Marnhull Community Choir is a choir on a journey. Formed in Spring 2019 as a group of enthusiastic amateur singers with varied levels of experience, it has grown in number and commitment.

Under our Music Director, Liz Dewar and Accompanist Neil Sissons the choir meets on a Wednesday evening from 7pm-9pm in Marnhull Village Hall. We follow school term dates with a 10-week term and a one week half term holiday break. Membership is open to men and women over the age of 16 and no audition is necessary.

Taster Session

The taster sessions are perfect for nervous or shy singers who think they can’t sing, but fancy having a go in a fun and supportive atmosphere!

Taster sessions take place on the first and second rehearsal of each term and you just need to contact us in advance by email or phone to let us know you are interested.

You will be placed next to a more experienced singer who will help you during the rehearsal and share music. If you decide to join at the end of the session you will be asked to complete a membership form and make a payment for the term.

The Future Sounds Good

We hold two performances a year - one at the end of the Summer term in June/July and another in December at the end of the Autumn term. These are usually help in the Village Hall or St Gregory’s Church.

Recently the choir has also been invited to sing at Marnhull Flower Show, St Greg’s Village Carol Service and St Mary’s PTFA Christmas Yuletide Fair and HMP Guys Marsh.

During the summer, we run a one day Singing Workshop and BBQ, which is a fun day of singing and socialising.  Aimed at complete novices, as well as those with some experience of reading music and singing part songs. Watch the website for details.

Music programme

Our music genre is broad and includes musical theatre, light classics and seasonal favourites, such as:-
